Jeremy Langford Out 4 to 6 Weeks With Injury: Report

The Chicago Bears felt like they dodged a bullet when Jeremy Langford was diagnosed with a sprained ankle on Monday, but things have taken a turn southward after a new report indicated that the second-year back could be out for an extended period of time.

According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Langford is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks, with the injury. Langford twisted the ankle during Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys, and he was removed from the game and carted off the field to the locker room.

Initially, the Bears feared that Langford had injured his Achilles tendon, but MRI results revealed an ankle sprain instead.

If Langford is out for an extended period, it could signal the beginning of the Jordan Howard era. He rushed for 45 yards and caught four passes for 47 yards in Sunday’s loss to Dallas, and the rookie could get a heavy workload with Langford out and Ka’Deem Carey potentially still dealing with injury concerns as well.
