Jason Heyward to Return to Cubs' Lineup Tuesday Night

After missing his team’s last three games, Chicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward will be back in the lineup on Tuesday night, according to team manager Joe Maddon.

Maddon, during his weekly interview segment with the Spiegel and Goff Show, confirmed that Heyward will return from the hip ailment that he suffered during Friday’s win over the San Francisco Giants. Maddon also said that Heyward will resume batting in the second spot in the order for the Cubs, who are looking to get off the skids as they deal with their first three game losing streak of the season.

Heyward sustained the injury while making a spectacular catch in right field on Friday night. The outfielder tracked down a fly ball before making the catch and crashing into the outfield barrier at AT&T Park, and he was immediately removed from the game.

Both X-rays and an MRI came back clean for Heyward, who was dealing with his second injury of the season after a wrist ailment sidelined him earlier in the year.

On Tuesday night, Heyward will battle his former team, as the Cubs take on the St. Louis Cardinals. He will be looking to improve upon his lackluster statistics at the plate so far this season, where he’s batting just .225 with a home run and 14 RBI in 37 games for the Cubs.
