Jammed Gun Saves Man's Life

A man's life was spared Saturday after a carjacker's gun jammed

Two Chicago area men are still shaken up after a carjacker tried to shoot one of them in the head—only to have the gun jam.

Four gunmen jumped Steve Bader and his cousin Walid Haddad as they returned Saturday to Haddad’s far South Side Hegewisch home from an evening at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond.
Prosecutors say Rondell Agee, 23, of Coralville, Ia., was intent on killing them after his hood slipped, revealing his face to the two men.
With his accomplices gone with Bader’s Mercedes Benz E-class sedan and the getaway car, Agee allegedly ran off after several attempts to free the gun’s action.

Police on routine patrol spotted Agee in Bader’s Mercedes Saturday evening and arrested him. According to the police report, Agee told officers the car was a gift from his brother.

He’s currently being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.
