Inside The 70s Chicago Penthouse You Have to See to Believe

You can now step back in time with a Chicago penthouse that was built in 1972, and stayed there

If you think unique homes are hard to find, then get ready to feast your eyes on a newly listed penthouse.

An “original 70s penthouse” in West Rogers Park hit the market last week, and immediately gained global attention. The $158,000 condo at 7141 N. Kedzie Ave. was built in 1972 and from the listing looks as if the homeowners haven’t changed more than a lightbulb since.

The living room features an awesome Austin Powers-esque green circular couch with a coffee table with glass figurines sitting on top. A mirror-covered wall decks out the dining room. Brown, green and yellow wallpaper plasters the eat-in kitchen and even travels onto the ceiling.

According to the Zillow listing, the 1,877 square foot home as of now has one master bedroom, as the current owners combined the rooms meant to be the second and third to be a large family room. But it can easily be turned back into a full 3-bedroom, 2-bath, according to the listing.

Agent Lauri Rosenbloom from Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Starck Real Estate told the Daily Mail the condo went on the market for the first time in 2012 with little buyer interest. However, she believes the modern buyer is ready to appreciate the 70s decor.

“Suddenly, it’s all the rage,” Rosenbloom told Daily Mail. “I’ve got people who love the wallpaper and the furniture.”

But apparently potential buyers might not be able to get to see the groovy space in person.

Shortly after photos of the home started making rounds on the internet, Rosenbloom told NBC 5 Wednesday her psychedelic sellers decided to pull it back off the market. But as of Wednesday afternoon, the listing still showed the property as active.
