A 3-year-old Indiana boy accidentally shot and killed his father after finding the man's loaded handgun.

On Friday the toddler found the gun his dad had brought over to a house they were at and it accidental discharged, according to Indiana State Police Sgt. Jerry Goodin. The 33-year-old Martinsville man was fatally wounded by the shot, Goodin said.

The man had brought his gun with him to the home he was remodeling in Salem, Ind. His wife, their three children and a juvenile relative were at the home when the accident happened.

Goodin said the case remains under investigation.
