Illinois Schools Make List of “Best School Districts in America”

Adlai E. Sevenson High School was the top-ranking Illinois district on the list

Three Illinois school districts were ranked among the top school districts in the nation, according to a new report.

In the recent ranking of best school districts in America for 2015 by Niche, a website that provides reviews, rankings and statistics of schools across the country, Adlai E. Stevenson High School District 125, New Trier Township High School District 203 and Northfield Township High School District 225 were all named among the top 100.

Adlai E. Stevenson High School was the top-ranking Illinois district on the list, coming in at no. 12. New Trier Township High School ranked at no. 18 and Northfield Township High School ranked at no.65.

The top school district in the country, according to the report, was Edgemont Union Free School District in Greenburgh Town, New York.

The report evaluated 9,299 school districts with at least 100 students and used data from government and public agencies along with survey responses from current students, recent alumni and parents.

Researchers looked at academics, health and safety, culture and diversity, teachers, resources and facilities, extracurriculars, and sports and fitness when determining the rankings.

The report also ranked the best public schools in the Chicago metro area and in Illinois.

While Stevenson, New Trier and Northfield made up the top three districts on both lists, several other districts were highlighted in the rankings.

Among the top 10 districts in the metro area and Illinois were Community High School District 128, Indian Prairie Community Unit School District 204, Naperville Community Unit School District 203, Barrington Community Unit District 220, Township High School District 113, Hinsdale Township High School District 86 and Elmhurst School District 205.
