Human Remains Found in Suburban Woods

Autopsy determines person died of multiple stab wounds

Chicago Police are investigating human remains found in a wooded area in west suburban River Forest Thursday.

The remains were found in the 8100 block of West Chicago Avenue in River Forest, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office, which could not immediately determine the age or gender of the deceased.

A Friday autopsy determined the person died of multiple stab wounds.

Despite being found in River Forest, Chicago Police are leading the investigation, River Forest Police Chief Greg Weiss said. His department provided perimeter security.

Chicago Police spokesman Adam Collins acknowledged the department was conducting a "death investigation," but did not immediately provide additional details.
