Grammy Award winning singer Jennifer Hudson kicked off the concert series of this year's Taste of Chicago.
Hudson's performance marks the beginning of an annual festival. But this year's iteration is different from years' past. Perhaps the the biggest difference being the shortened five-day schedule for the more than 30-year-old festival.
Musical acts are also set to include Death Cab for Cutie, Michael Franti, Chaka Khan and Dierks Bentley.
It is the first time the artist has been in Chicago since the murder trial involving her family.
