Anthony Rapp, a Joliet West Grad, Accuses Kevin Spacey of Sex Abuse

The controversy began when an actor told BuzzFeed News that he was attending a party at Spacey's apartment in 1986 when an inebriated 26-year-old Spacey picked him up, placed him on his bed, and climbed on top of him

An actor from Joliet has accused Kevin Spacey of sexually abusing him decades ago.

Joliet West High School graduate and actor Anthony Rapp says the incident happened while both actors were on Broadway—and Rapp was only 14 years old.

Rapp, now 46, tells BuzzFeed he was watching television at a party at Spacey’s apartment during a party when “he picked me up like a groom picks up the bride over the threshold… and then he lays down on top of me.”

Spacey responded with a statement on Twitter that reads: “I am beyond horrified to hear this story. I honestly do not remember the encounter… But if I did behave as he describes owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior.”

Spacey then referred to his sexually fluid love life and said “I choose now to live as a gay man,” which prompted massive backlash.

Zachary Quinto, an openly gay actor who was in “Star Trek” with Rapp, tweeted “I am sorry that Kevin only saw fit to acknowledge his truth when he thought it would serve him.”

Wanda Sykes tweeted “No no no no no! You do not get to ‘choose’ to hide under the rainbow! Kick rocks!”

Rapp, known for his role in “Star Trek: Discovery” is still best known as being part of the original cast on rent.

Spacey has earned numerous awards and is most recently known for his work on “House of Cards,” which Netflix announced will only have one more season before cancellation.
