Former professional wrestler Jon Stewart wants to put the smackdown on Congress as the replacement for Rahm Emanuel in the U.S. House. (No, it's not that Jon Stewart, although they have been mixed up.)
A Republican, Stewart is one of 26 people who submitted paperwork to run in a special primary election to replace Emanuel, who resigned his seat to work as Obama's chief of staff.
A March 3 primary will winnow the field of candidates that includes relative unknowns like Stewart and well-known politicians, including Democratic state Reps. Sara Feigenholtz and John Fritchey, Chicago Alderman Patrick O'Connor and Cook County Commissioner Mike Quigley.
Fifteen Democrats, six Republicans and five Green Party candidates are vying to fill the unexpired two-year term Emanuel was elected to in November.
