A family from the western suburbs has won the house of their dreams.
Eric and Catherine Makstenieks from Hinsdale won a furnished home located amongst ski slopes in Vermont during an HGTV contest, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
The Makstenieks also won a new GMC Acadia Denali and $500,000 as part of a $2 million prize package from HGTV.
On Tuesday, Monica Pederson, host of HGTV, surprised the Makstenieks in their home with a camera crew for an episode that will air on March 19.
The Makstenieks' tell the Sun-Times they feel incredibly lucky to have won the prize, considering they entered the HGTV Dream Home giveaway several times since 2003.
The family says they do not plan to move to Vermont, but plan on keeping the home as a vacation getaway.
