WATCH: High Speed Chase Ends in Rockford

A high speed police chase that started in Forest Park ended in dramatic fashion in Rockford when the fleeing vehicle crashed into another car at a four way stop and spun out, police said.

The driver exited the vehicle and tried running away before Rockford police swarmed him. A passenger was also arrested, police said. The men are believed to be 36 and 25 years old, according to officers.

Both are at a Rockford area hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Officers began pursuing the car at around 3:15 p.m. after the driver allegedly pointed a gun at another motorist in Forest Park.

Forest Park police pursued the silver Dodge Charger onto the Eisenhower Expressway, where Illinois State Police joined the pursuit.

The car then got off on the Jane Addams Tollway at Genoa road and continued flight along snowy local roads in Rockford.

Charges are pending against both men.
