Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart hands out 88 awards to officers for bravery in the line of duty, as well as four posthumous awards to the families of Chicago officers who were killed this year.

There was some much deserved recognition on Tuesday for Cook County's finest.

Sheriff Tom Dart handed out awards to 88 active officers for valour and merit in the line of duty.

Dart also gave out posthumous awards to the families of four Chicago officers killed this year.  The families of officers Thor Soderberg, Michael Bailey and Thomas Wortham were on hand for the event.  Sgt. Alan Haymaker also received a posthumous award.

Dart called all the awardees "heroes who have sacrificed for all of us."
