Dan Savage, who writes the popular sex column "Savage Love" could take his advice to HBO viewers.

Dan Savage, the foul-mouthed, openly gay, syndicated sex columnist and Chicago native, could be getting his own HBO series if all goes well.

Savage has been in L.A. all month working on a pilot episode based on his "Savage Love" column, that most Chicagoans know from its weekly spot in the Reader.

The show will “focus on current events and cultural trends with sex as the filter."

“I'm hoping to bring a new kind of conversation to TV about sex--an honest conversation, one that's informed without being (too) wonky, funny without being (too) cruel, sexy without being (too) cheesy. Basically, my sex-advice column--but on the teevee!” Savage wrote on his blog, the Slog.

HBO confirmed that Savage will shoot the pilot on August 27.

The pilot topic: male chastity belts.

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer blog, which follows Savage because that’s where he writes from, noticed an ad on Craigslist:

“’Savage Love’ hosted by Dan Savage is looking for people who use the CB6000 (or any model) to talk about their experiences using the device. We're interested in hearing about your reasons for using the device and the lifestyle in general,” the ad stated.
