File this one under irony.

What could be worse than being arrested on federal corruption charges a day before your birthday? How about being arrested on federal corruption charges on International Anti-Corruption Day?

It's true.

The United Nation's General Assembly five years ago designated December 9 as the day to "to recognize that we all have a personal responsibility to help end corruption."

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who will turn 52 Wednesday, and his Chief of Staff, John Harris, were arrested Tuesday morning by FBI agents on federal corruption charges relating to the selection of a successor for President-elect Barack Obama's Senate seat.
