A Kenilworth lawyer died this week in a freak accident while playing a round of golf at the Evanston Country Club.
Larry Schad, a partner at the firm of Schad Diamond & Shedden, was crushed to death by his electric golf cart on Wednesday at the Skokie course, authorities said.
What happened is not exactly clear.
Skokie firefighters responded to a call of a "down golfer" at 4 p.m. Wednesday after another golfer saw Schad trapped underneath the cart pleading for help, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
"Another golfer first saw a cart, but there wasn't anyone around it. They came back a few minutes later and saw something under it ... a person," said Skokie Sgt. Michael Krupnik to the paper.
Authorities said Schad died of "multiple crushing injuries" and his death was ruled an accident. Skokie police are investigating.
