A 7-year-old girl caught in gunfire on Chicago's West Side will be laid to rest this week.

Funeral services for Heaven Sutton begin at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mark Intl. Christian Church, at 832 N. Leclaire.

Heaven was selling candy in front of her Austin neighborhood home and playing with friends around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, when shots rang out. Heaven tried running inside, her mother said, but she was hit by gunfire.

Heaven was rushed to an area hospital where she later died.

The incident drew an emotional response from Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

A West Side gang member was charged in her shooting and denied bond Sunday. Jerrell Dorsey, 26, is charged with one count each of first degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm.

Donations to Heaven's family can be made to the Heaven On Earth Fund at any U.S. Bank location.
