Two squad cars collided while pursuing two offenders in a stolen vehicle

Four Chicago police officers were injured in a crash after two squad cars collided early Sunday morning.

The two squad cars collided at an intersection on the Southwest Side while pursuing two offenders in a stolen vehicle. The accident happened at about 3:35 a.m. in the intersection of 26th and California.

The offenders in the stolen car, described as a van, then fled the scene and struck another squad car in the 3100 block of California, according to police news affairs.

The offenders are now in custody, and charges are pending.

Two of the injured officers were transported to Mount Sinai Medical Center, and the other two were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital. None of their injuries are considered life-threatening.
