Authorities say the body of a man found in Colorado Thursday is believed to be an Northwest Indiana doctor who went missing while hiking last month.
James C. McGrogan, 39, of Chesterton, was last seen hiking with friends just north of Vail on March 14. He decided to separate from the group and hasn't been seen since.
According to a news release from the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, the body of a deceased male was found by three skiers Wednesday near the Booth Falls area, which is north of Vail.
The body was located in an ice fall and is more than four miles east of the trail where McGrogan was traveling.
Rescue crews suspended the search for McGrogan after five days.
An official identification of the body is expected soon.
McGrogan was an emergency room physician at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka.
