A massive five-alarm fire south of Milwaukee has been burning since Sunday night, leading to evacuations and closures nearby.

Fire erupted at the Patrick Cudahy meatpacking plant in Cudahy, Wis., before 10 p.m. Sunday, WISN reported. It was still burningat 5:30 p.m. Monday. No injuries have been reported, and crews are not yet certain what sparked the blaze.

A 1-mile area around the plant has been evacuated, including homes and businesses.  There's concern about toxic fumes and the possibility of an ammonia explosion.

The mayor of Cudahy has urged all residents to curb water usage, and he's also asked businesses to cut back on water usage as much as possible.

"We are running short on water," the mayor said.

Updates on the fire are being posted on WISN's Twitter feed.
