The department says firefighter was cut above his eye

A Chicago firefighter suffered minor injuries in an early morning house fire on the Far South Side.

It broke out in the 12000 block of South Perry Avenue around 3:15 a.m. in the West Pullman neighborhood, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The vacant bungalow's roof collapsed, said Joe Roccasalva, Chicago Fire Department spokesman.

The department said the firefighter was taken to Metro South Hospital in Blue Island in good condition with a cut above his eye.
