Firefighter Injured in Apartment Building Fire in Chicago's Uptown Neighborhood

The fire was reported at a four-story building on West Gunnison Street near North Marine Drive

A firefighter suffered a minor injury after an apartment building fire took place in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood on the city's Far North Side, officials said.

The fire was reported before 3:30 p.m. at a four-story building on West Gunnison Street near North Marine Drive. The apartment building contained 13 units, and the fire was extinguished at around 6:30 p.m., according to the Chicago Fire Department. 

One firefighter was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, fire officials said.

Sky 5 video from the scene showed smoke filling the air around the building, and firefighters working to extinguish the fire. 

Crews remained on the scene Monday evening to search for hotspots.

Authorities believe the cause of the fire was accidental. An unknown number of residents were displaced by the fire.
