I-94 Lanes Reopen Following Fatal Crash

One person was killed when a car and truck collided on I-94 on the South Side, causing inbound lanes of traffic to close on the expressway before the evening rush hour.

The crash happened on the inbound lanes of the Dan Ryan Expy. near 91st Street about 2 p.m., according to Illinois State Police.

Authorities reopened the lanes Friday evening after shutting them down for several hours for the investigation and cleanup.

One person was dead on the scene and another refused medical attention, according to the fire department.

The ISP's preliminary investigation showed that the car struck the left front of the truck, causing it to veer into the right shoulder concrete median wall. The driver was ejected from the vehicle.

The truck crossed all lanes and struck the left shoulder median wall head on where it came to a rest.
