Family Decks Their House For Christmas

Homeowner Henry Victor Rossio Jr told NBC 5 he spent his whole life honing his holiday display skills, a tradition passed down from his father who he lost to cancer in 2011

Santa Claus is coming to town and for Romeoville residents they don't have to wait. A family's popular holiday home display brings neighbors the opportunity to greet Father Christmas before the big day.

Homeowner Henry Victor Rossio Jr. told NBC 5 he spent his whole life honing his holiday decorating skills, a tradition passed down from his father who he lost to cancer in 2011.

“My dad always went the extra mile to decorate and make sure all of the kids in the neighborhood, even if their parents couldn’t afford it, had something under the tree Christmas morning,” Rossio said. “He loved giving toys to underprivileged children.”

Rossio, his wife Tiffany and their two daughters Emily, 6, and Madelyn, 3, hope to do the same in his honor by collecting donations for a local food bank. The family four-some will be passing out candy as Santa, Mrs. Claus and holiday elves on Dec. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. for community members to get photos and contribute to the cause.

The production’s theme this year is Disney’s animated hit “Frozen”. The yard is outfitted with hand painted wooden candy canes and donned with his daughters’ favorite “Frozen” characters. Rossio spent over a month creating the characters by hand and more than 40 hours installing all of the intricate outdoor decorations.

“It’s all about seeing your girls happy and seeing all of the young kids’ eyes light up,” Rossio said.

To celebrate the season, both the naughty and nice are invited to enjoy the home's crafted Christmas scene at 434 Arnold Ave. in Romeoville.
