Familiar Faces Help Quinn Campaign

Actor Martin Sheen campaigns for Quinn, Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton in town this week

Gov. Pat Quinn continues to pull out the star power as he enters the final stretch of the gubernatorial campaign.

Quinn was seen with actor Martin Sheen at several campaign events, and both First Lady Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton will be in Illinois this week for rallies and fundraisers.

NBC 5 has learned that President Barack Obama is also expected to make another trip to Illinois before next month's election.

Rauner's latest ads criticizes Quinn's anti-violence program currently under investigation by two U.S. attorneys. State lawmakers will resume hearings this week seeking to determine how the $54 million was spent.

The race is already shaping up to be the most expensive gubernatorial campaign in history. Both candidates have spent a combined $60 million, $43 million by Rauner.

Illinois gubernatorial candidates spent a combined $39 million in 2010, and $30 million in 2006.

The first televised campaign of the election will be held Thursday in Peoria.
