People say, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." But imitation could also get you in big trouble.
David Lebron, 45, is accused of impersonating a police officer in Little Village on Thursday.
An unidentified woman told police she was walking in an alley to her parked car when Lebron approached her. He told the woman he had tagged her car with a parking ticket and asked if she was going to move it.
However, Lebron wasn't wearing a uniform, and only a pair of handcuffs was tucked into his waistband.
That's a lousy -- but potentially fun -- costume.
Using her common sense, the woman demanded Lebron prove he was a cop. Lebron said his "badge number" was #337, but there are no reports that he provided a real, tangible badge, according to the Sun-Times.
When he reached for his handcuffs and threatened to arrest her, the woman called the real cops and reported the harassment.
Lebron was arrested and charged with impersonating a peace officer -- a felony. He was ordered held on $90,000 bond during a court appearance Friday.
He's going to have an unpleasant trip back to reality.
