A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with the sexual assault of an elderly woman behind an Orland Park Home Depot Friday.

Dennis Dodson, 34, faces one count of criminal sexual assault after being taken into custody late Friday night.

An 83-year-old woman told investigators she was trying to assist a man who she believed was homeless and living in the woods behind a Home Depot store at 7300 W. 59th Street Friday morning.

The man knocked her to the ground and raped her before being scared off by a police patrol car and fleeing on a black bicycle.

The victim lived within walking distance of the store and had spoken with the man a week before, according to investigators.

Neighbors say a man fitting the suspect's description had been spotted often in the area, hanging out drinking beer and asking for money.

The victim was treated at a nearby hospital for minor injuries suffered in the attack.
