It appears as though 2011 is coming to a violent end in Chicago.
At least nine people, including an off-duty Chicago police officer, were shot in the city Thursday night, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Officer Clifton Lewis, 41, was working security at a convenience store at Austin and Division on the West Side, when he was shot during a robbery.
Another man was killed in the 1500 block of South Kedzie. Police said he was shot in the head.
Six other people, including three teens, were shot in other incidents around the city. No one is in custody in any of the cases.
