The Chicago White Sox have had little success against the Cleveland Indians this season.

Adam Eaton put an end to that in stunning fashion.

Eaton's ninth-inning grand slam off closer Cody Allen capped a five-run rally and lifted the White Sox to a 10-7 win Wednesday night.

"That was a lot of fun," Eaton said.

Chicago was 2-8 against Cleveland, including seven straight losses going into the game.

"You don't give up, that's what it shows you," manager Robin Ventura said. "These guys keep playing all the way through every game because they know they can do it. Good things happen when you fight through."

The Indians went ahead 7-5 in the fifth inning and the White Sox had been held scoreless since the fourth.

Allen (2-5) retired the first hitter before Chicago loaded the bases on infield singles by Todd Frazier and J.B. Shuck, and a walk to Tim Anderson.

Dioner Navarro's bloop hit down the left field line scored a run before Eaton homered to right on an 0-2 pitch for his first career grand slam.

Driving ball into the seats was the last thing on Eaton's mind, especially when he fell behind in the count.

"I was just looking to make contact," he said with a laugh. "I'm obviously happy about the result."

"I didn't actually think that was a bad pitch to Eaton, he just put a good swing on it," Allen said. "That guy's a good player. That's kind of how the inning went."

Jacob Turner (1-1) pitched the eighth and David Robertson retired the final two hitters with two on in the ninth for his 30th save.

Chicago's comeback prevented Cleveland from increasing its division lead to seven games over second-place Detroit, which lost to Kansas City.

Anderson hit a two-run homer and Frazier had a two-run double for the White Sox.

Cleveland starter Carlos Carrasco struck out 11 in 6 2/3 innings. Lonnie Chisenhall homered and drove in three runs while Carlos Santana also homered.

Brandon Guyer's two-run single gave Cleveland its two-run lead in the fifth that held up until Chicago's big ninth.

Chisenhall's homer in the second put Cleveland ahead, but Carrasco gave up Anderson's home run in the third.

Santana homered and Chisenhall had an RBI single in the third, but Chicago scored three times in the fourth, sparked by Frazier's double.

Carrasco struck out the side in the sixth and retired seven of the final eight hitters he faced.

Anthony Ranaudo, recalled from Triple-A Charlotte before the game, allowed five runs in four innings.

Mike Napoli was 0 for 3, ending his career-high 16-game hitting streak.

BIG INNING

The White Sox scored five runs in the ninth to win a game for the first time since April 25, 2014 when they defeated Tampa Bay by scoring five times in the bottom of the ninth.

White Sox: C Alex Avila (strained right hamstring) is scheduled to begin a second rehab assignment with Charlotte next week. He was recalled from his first stint on July 20 when the injury flared up.

Indians: RHP Danny Salazar (sore elbow) will be activated off the 15-day disabled list to start the series finale. He last appeared in a game on Aug. 1. Salazar will take the roster spot of RHP Josh Tomlin, who is on the family medical emergency list.
