Dwyane Wade Out for Bulls vs. Lakers Sunday Night

In the midst of one of their toughest road trips of the season, the Chicago Bulls are electing to give a key veteran player a night off, as guard Dwyane Wade will sit out against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night.

Wade, who played 36 minutes in the Bulls’ loss Saturday night to the Los Angeles Clippers, will be given the night off by head coach Fred Hoiberg, the team announced on Sunday.

Wade had a very good game against the Clippers overall, scoring 28 points and hauling down eight rebounds in the seven-point loss, but as the Bulls still have two games remaining on their circus trip (including one all the way in Philadelphia on Friday night), the team is opting for a cautious approach with Wade.

The Bulls could also potentially play without another one of their big offseason acquisitions on Sunday night, as Rajon Rondo is questionable as he continues to deal with an ankle injury. He did play in Saturday’s game in Los Angeles, playing 35 minutes and racking up 10 rebounds and eight assists, but he could be given a night off to rest the injury as the circus trip continues.

Tip-off against the Lakers is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. at Staples Center, and the game will air on Comcast Sportsnet Chicago.
