There are a few things you should never do during a traffic stop: don't get out of the car (unless the officer tells you to), don't search for your documents until told, and don't tell the officer you just smoked all the marijuana in the car.
River Forest police pulled over Giovanni Lyles-Dawson just after 6 p.m. on September 9 for allegedly having expired license plates, reports the Pioneer Local.
However, as police approached the car, they were hit with the stench of marijuana.
Either that or a bad idea for a car freshener scent.
Lyles-Dawson and his passenger—his mother—were asked to step out of the car, but instead they locked the doors and rolled up the windows, said police.
After an unknown amount of time, Lyles-Dawson finally stepped out of the car and told police, "There's no weed in the car because I smoked it all."
Ha! He sure outsmarted them!

Or not. Lyles-Dawson and his mother were both arrested for obstructing a police officer, reports the Pioneer Local. The driver was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and had an arrest warrant for slacking on child support.
Oh, and don't forget the ticket for those license plates.
Tsk tsk, what a shame. Where is this guy's mother? Oh... wait... never mind...
