Driver Arrested in Uber Crash That Killed 3 Chicago Women Has Record

Court records show that a motorist who allegedly caused a Milwaukee crash that killed three Chicago women in an Uber car has a previous conviction for drunken driving.

Investigators say a 23-year-old man driving a sport utility vehicle ran a stop light in downtown Milwaukee early Sunday and slammed into a car whose 41-year-old driver was giving the women an Uber ride. The man fled the scene but surrendered to authorities on Monday.

Formal charges are pending against the man. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that court records show the man was arrested for driving drunk in January 2015, and his license was revoked in August of that year. It wasn't clear for how long.

The Milwaukee crash killed 32-year-old Amy Taylor, 30-year-old Ashley Sawatzke and 35-year-old Lindsey Cohen.
