Driver Arrested for DUI in I-90 Wrong-Way Crash

Three people were taken to the hospital after the accident.

The driver of a car that crashed head-on with another car on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) in northwest suburban Rosemont early Sunday has been arrested for DUI, state police said.

The crash happened about 5:17 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-90, according to Illinois State Police Tollway District Sgt. Craig Thompson.

The first car was traveling in the wrong direction in the westbound lanes when it collided head-on with another car, Thompson said. Three people were taken from the scene to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with non life-threatening injuries, Thompson said.

The three westbound lanes were closed to traffic for less than an hour as police investigated and crews cleaned up the scene, Thompson said.

The driver of the car that was traveling against oncoming traffic was arrested for DUI, the sergeant said. He did not have any details on the identity of that driver.
