Divvy To Reopen Saturday After 2 Snowy Days

The only way Divvy won't re-open is if the weather "worsens significantly"

After temporarily closing because of the snow, Divvy plans to reopen at noon on Saturday.

"While we know the closure meant interrupting some riders' regular routines using Divvy, we felt it was necessary due to the snowy conditions of the roads and stations," the company said in a statement.

The only way it won't re-open is if the weather "worsens significantly."

The Chicago bike-sharing program temporarily closed at noon Thursday.

“Due to the weather, we will temporarily close Divvy…to protect the safety of our members and staff,” Divvy officials said in a press release. “No bikes can be rented after the temporary closure has begun, though any bikes in use at the time can be returned to any Divvy station with an available dock.”

Divvy officials announced plans to stay open during the winter months in October, stating the baby blue bikes would be available year-round, "so Chicagoans can bundle up and keep warm by pedaling to their destinations."

The Divvy team said bikers made nearly 45,000 trips with Divvy bikes in December.

“And we’re looking forward to serving many more this winter,” the release said.
