Department of Health Issues Baby Food Warning

The Illinois Department of Public Health is warning parents not to give their children recently recalled baby food made by California-based Plum Organics.

Public Health Director Damon Arnold said today the 4.22-ounce packets of apple and carrot flavored baby food were sold at Toys-R-Us and Babies-R-Us stores. Arnold says there's a risk of potential contamination that could cause botulism.
Arnold says symptoms of botulism include weakness, dizziness, double vision and trouble speaking or swallowing.

He also asks anyone who has consumed the baby food and has the symptoms to seek medical help.
