Delivery Drivers Targeted in String of Robberies: Police

Police say three robberies took place in a two-day span this week

Several delivery drivers were robbed at gunpoint in a series of robberies on Chicago’s North and Northwest sides, according to authorities.

Police say three robberies took place in a two-day span this week.

In the robberies, two offenders approached delivery drivers as they were making deliveries, according to a community alert issued Thursday. The suspects displayed a handgun, knocked the victims to the ground and announced a robbery, taking money and valuables from the victims before fleeing on foot, the alert said.

Two of the robberies took place within 30 minutes of each other Sunday. The first incident was reported at 6 p.m. in the 4400 block of North Mozart and the second happened at 6:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of West Byron, the alert said. A third incident happened just after 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said two suspects are described as men between 25 and 30 years old wearing black or grey hooded sweatshirts. In one of the crimes, a suspect was about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 180 pounds.

One of the robberies had a single suspect who was described as being 25 to 35 years old and 6 feet tall. He also had a goatee and was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, according to police.

Anyone with information on the robberies is being asked to call Area North Detectives at (312) 744-8263.
