DUI Charge for Driver Who Hit CTA Bus

Man faces 2 felony charges for deadly weekend crash

Prosecutors have charged the motorist who hit a CTA bus Saturday morning, killing the passenger in his car, with two felonies.

Liefem Okundaya, 27, was charged with reckless homicide and aggravated DUI, Chicago police said Tuesday. He also received citations for DUI and failure to reduce speed.

Simeon Allen, 30 was riding in Okundaya’s Ford Taurus when it collided head-on into a CTA bus on the 6600 block of South Halsted at 7:20 a.m. Saturday.

Both Okundaya and Allen were taken to Stroger Hospital. Allen was pronounced dead later Saturday. Okundaya was in serious-to-critical condition. No word on his condition Tuesday morning, or when he’ll appear before a judge for a bond hearing.

Ten passengers on the bus were not injured.
