The state is investigating the early Saturday death of a north suburban Evanston infant.
Joseph Heaton, 5 weeks, of the 1200 block of Oakton St. in Evanston, became unresponsive at home and was pronounced dead at 4:23 a.m. at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is investigating allegations of neglect, spokesman Jimmy Whitelow said.
DCFS has not had prior contact with the family and there are no other children in the home, Whitelow said.
An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday, the medical examiner’s office said.
Evanston police are investigating.
