Cubs Release New ‘Fly the W' Video After Team Clinches Division Title

If being declared the National League Central Division champs wasn’t enough to get Cubs fans excited, the team’s new hype video should.

Just moments after news broke that the team had earned the coveted crown for the first time since 2008, the Chicago Cubs posted a new video to social media to get fans ready to “Fly the W” this postseason.

The 30-second video begins with a man saying “it’s the fabric that brings an entire nation together.”

“It says to the world we will never lose faith. We believe in this team,” the voice says as images and videos of Cubs fans holding their white flags with big blue W’s on them appear.

Then comes the big reveal. The man behind the voice is Cubs’ slugger Kyle Schwarber.

“Maybe this October, if we fly it high enough and loud enough and proud enough, well, you get the idea,” he says.

The Cubs clinched the division title late Thursday, despite losing their game against the Brewers at Wrigley Field. While fans had hoped the team would go on to a victory and massive celebration at the Friendly Confines, the victory came much later as the St. Louis Cardinals lost their game to the Giants.
