The Chicago Cubs are going to be looking to hit Cleveland Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer on Wednesday night, but if they’re looking for inspiration as they go into Game 2 of the World Series, they should turn their attention back to the spring of 2015.

On a warm, sunny afternoon in Goodyear, AZ, the Cubs and Indians battled at Goodyear Ballpark in a spring training game. That afternoon, Jorge Soler, Javier Baez, and Kris Bryant were all in the lineup for the Cubs as they prepared for their first season of action under manager Joe Maddon, and they all made an incredible statement against Bauer on that fateful day.

In the fourth inning of the game, Soler came up to the plate and tattooed a ball into the stands to get the Cubs on the board and make it a 4-1 game. Baez then stepped into the box two pitches later and launched a home run of his own to make it 4-2. Bryant finished off the good times with another home run just a few pitches later, and in the span of just three hitters the Cubs had touched up Bauer for three runs and gotten themselves back into the game.

For the Cubs, they will have all three hitters in their lineup on Wednesday night as they take on Bauer again, this time in Game 2 of the World Series. Bryant will be batting second and playing third base for the Cubs, while Baez will hit sixth and play second base. Soler will be batting in the eighth spot and will be manning right field as the Cubs look to tie up the best-of-seven series.
