Couple Loses, Finds $1 Million Lottery Ticket

Illinois Lottery

When a Downers Grove couple heard a $1 million lottery ticket was sold at their regular Jewel-Osco, they began frantically searching for their recently purchased ticket.

Dave Seiden put the Quick Pick ticket in a stack of papers on their kitchen counter, but the couple spent half an hour searching their house for the missing ticket with no luck.

“Cathy is a very organized person, but she gave the ticket to me and I had no idea where I put it,” Dave Seiden said.

Dave Seiden, who works in Information Technology in the Valley View School District, and Cathy Seiden, a first-grade teacher for Downers Grove School District 58, heard from a colleague that a Jewel-Osco store in nearby Woodridge sold a $1 million winning Mega Millions ticket.

“That’s where I grocery shop every week and I often buy a lottery ticket while I’m there,” said Cathy Seiden.

Finally, the couple found the ticket in a stack of papers inside their home and discovered they won $1 million.

“We were absolutely shocked! We feel very lucky,” Dave Seiden said.

They plan to use their winnings to invest in college funds for their two children.
