Cops: Woman Charged After 82-Year-Old Man Beaten

A 28-year-old woman is reportedly accused of dragging an 82-year-old man out of his car and beating him after a traffic accident on Chicago’s South Side Thursday night, police said.

Sophia Body was charged with one count of aggravated battery of a senior citizen and one count of attempted first-degree murder, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic.

Sedevic said Body was arrested in connection with a physical altercation Thursday involving an 82-year-old man in the 900 block of East 79th Street.

Officers said an 82-year-old man bleeding from the right side of head and suffering from lacerations to his back told them he was driving westbound when he was “flagged down” by two woman, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The man said after he parked to help them he was “pulled out” of his car and struck in the head and body several times by the woman and police said some of the injuries were caused by a screwdriver, the Tribune reported.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition with wounds to his head and back, Sedevic said.

A police investigation reportedly determined the victim accidentally bumped one of the women with his vehicle. Another suspect is also being questioned.
