Elgin Cops Shoot Pet Pit Bull

Family dog mauled its own puppies

Elgin police shot and killed a pet pit pull that attacked its own puppies Wednesday afternoon, WBBM reports.

Officers responded to a family's home on the 400 block of Lincoln Avenue in Elgin after the dog, named Loco, became aggressive toward its owners.

Authorities killed the dog after it charged officers. None of the six people at home at the time was injured, according to WBBM. Police took eight 6-day-old puppies to shelters. Two of the puppies had been bitten.

Police found the remains of a ninth puppy, according to a police spokesperson.
