Police: Father Stabbed Daughter to Death in Woodridge Murder-Suicide

The 3-year-old girl was transported to Edwards Hospital where she later died in surgery

A west suburban man stabbed his 3-year-old daughter to death before killing himself Friday in an apparent murder-suicide, officials said.

Police found a deceased man and a toddler suffering from stab wounds around 1 p.m. Friday in the 2700 block of Meadowdale Lane in west suburban Woodridge while responding to a call for service, authorities said.

The 3-year-old girl was transported to Edwards Hospital where she later died in surgery, according to a news release.

The DuPage County Coroner's Office identified the man as 34-year-old Robert Bzdek and his daughter as 3-year-old Zuzanna Bzdek.

"The father stabbed his daughter, killing her, then took his own life," according to the release.

Officials did not give any other details on the matter, but said they do not believe there is any danger to the public and that it appeared to be an “isolated incident.”

Family members are asking for donations to help pay for the 3-year-old's funeral.
