Two Chicago police officers were hospitalized in serious condition after a hit and run crash on the West Side.

The accident happened around 10 p.m. Thursday at South Lawndale Avenue and West Roosevelt Road, police said. Reports indicate the officers were on routine patrol when they collided with another car. The driver of the other vehicle fled the scene.

One officer is in Mount Sinai Hospital, and the other one at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to officials.

A description of the other car was not available, police said.
