Cop Fatally Shoots Man in Domestic Violence Incident

Two people are dead after what police are calling a "domestic related homicide incident" in south suburban Posen Friday.

Officers responded to a home at West 145th Street and Campbell Avenue shortly before noon where a gunman is believed to have shot one person and wounded another.

A Blue Island Police officer shot and killed the alleged gunman.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office says two men, aged 27 and 28, died in the shootings.

Therese Kolodziej told NBC 5 that officers found the gunman hiding in her 93-year-old aunt's garage.

"He didn't go into the house. Just the garage because it was open," Kolodziej said.

Illinois State Police are investigating the incident and will not release the names of the victims until next of kin have been notified.
