Chicago Celebrity Exhibit Goes Online

Website and exhibit tests celebrity knowledge

Think you're an expert on Cook County celebrities?

A new exhibit and website from the county clerk's office will put your knowledge to the test.

The Sweet Home Cook County exhibit is on display now through July 22 in the walkway between City Hall and the Daley Center.

"A great many cultural giants were born right here," Clerk David Orr said in a press release. "It's a legacy we shouldn't take for granted. What's more, we've dug up the trivia showing how many of them are connected to one another by films, jobs or their hometowns."

The 12 display cases feature a timeline, photos and memorabilia from Chicago-area luminaries from Nobel Prize-winning author Ernest Hemingway to Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson.

The project's website also has a searchable database of nearly 150 celebrities, complete with the hospital they were born in, their grammar and elementary schools and a brief biography.

"Whether you're a fan of music, art, literature, politics or sports, Sweet Home Cook County will provide you plenty of hometown pride," Orr said.
