Construction Hampers Weekend ‘El' Service

Train service on the Blue and Red Lines will be slower than usual this weekend because of construction.

The CTA advises riders to plan accordingly.

Blue Line trains in both directions will operate on the same track between the Damen and Clark/Lake stations while crews make track improvements from 10 p.m. Saturday until 7 a.m. Sunday, according to the CTA’s Web site.

Red Line trains run on Purple Line Express tracks between the Wilson and Addison between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Passengers at the Sheridan station must board and exit all trains on the outer instead of the inner tracks.

Additionally, Red Line trains in both directions will operate on the same track between the Roosevelt and Grand stations while crews perform track maintenance from 10 p.m. Sunday until 4 a.m. Monday, the CTA said.

As a result, passengers must board and exit all trains on the 95th Street-bound side of the platform at the Roosevelt, Harrison, Jackson, Monroe and Lake stations.

Minor delays are expected and the CTA advises passengers to allow extra travel time.
