Conde Nast dubbed Chicago one of the best travel cities in the United States in its 2013 Reader's Choice Awards.

Readers ranked the Windy City fifth on a list of 10 favorite U.S. tourist destinations. According to Conde Nast's website, tourists fell in love with Chicago's architecture and ethnic food. The website also said it's is a great place for any kind of trip, whether you're flying solo or going on a romantic getaway.

Cities are graded on six categories, which include culture, atmosphere and shopping. Chicago had solid numbers in all of them except for a low 68 on the friendliness scale.

Chicago fell behind Charleston, Sante Fe, San Francisco and Honolulu. However, it beat New York City, which was number eight on the list.

The Windy City was ranked third in the 2012 Reader's Choice Awards.
