Computer Glitch Delays Paychecks for 500 ISP Workers

It’s pay day for the Illinois State Police, but up to 500 workers are still waiting to receive their checks.

A computer glitch has affected those who receive their paychecks through direct deposit.

“There was not a complete handshake between the Comptroller’s office and the banks” ISP spokesman Matt Boerwinkle said. "Those checks are going to be hand delivered to the districts today.”

Boerwinkle and the Comptroller’s Office insists this has nothing to do with the current budget impasse.

The timing, however, comes as many state workers are apprehensive about being receiving their paychecks. ISP is paid on the July 7 and July 22.

“I’m sure it could have set off an alarm for some folks,” Boerwinkle said. "In the end they will get paid.”

The State Police is taking the paper checks from Springfield and relaying them “via squad cars that are already on patrol, on the Interstate 55 I-57 corridor, those will be hand delivered to the respective headquarters today,” according to Boerwinkle.
